Discovery Elementary PTSA

Walk-A-Thon is a fun event that supports all the valuable programs that PTSA provides. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year by far. Hope for sunshine (or at least no rain) and come join the fun. Walk with your children to the beat of the music and enjoy refreshments.

Naturally the parking lot is full during this event, but parking is available at Pine Lake Park, Audubon Park, and Pine Lake Covenant Church. Please do not park in fire lanes. Cars can also be ticketed for parking on 24th Street, so wear your walking shoes and watch for legal parking places.

Destination Imagination
Ever had to take two pie pans, some string, and some paper and create a robot? If not you’re missing out! If you’re interested in fostering your child’s imagination and problem-solving skills, check out Destination ImagiNation. Destination ImagiNation is a community-based, school-friendly, kid driven program that builds participants' creativity, problem solving, and teamwork in enjoyable and meaningful ways. Teams are usually grade-based and meet afternoons, evenings, or weekends. This program is offered for grades 1-5.

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to volunteer for this position. So, potential President or co-Presidents, please contact someone on the PTSA board if you are interested!

Great Job Discovery Elementary!! Since the beginning of the year we have collected 1046 box tops, 270 bonus box tops, and 15 super box tops. Keep collecting those General Mills Box Tops. By clipping the 'coupons' from your favorite brands and bringing them to school, you help make a difference in your child's education. The drop box is in the entry hallway, on the PTSA bulletin board. Our goal is to make $1000 from box tops this year. Discovery makes 10 cents for every box top. If you need a list of what products have the labels on them or are not sure what a box top looks like, please go to www.boxtops4education.com.
