Parent Education

Internet Safety – Liberty High School March 26th 7-9pm
Andrew Phillips presents an eye-opening seminar on how youth uses the internet. We will explore MySpace, via big screen, cover Internet lingo, learn how to find out if your student is a member of MySpace, if they have BLOGs, who their friends are, and discover what they are discussing and how they use Instant Messaging (IM). Our goal is to have you leave this evening prepared to work with your children about what they encounter online. Used correctly, the Internet is a never ending well of knowledge, and can be a great asset to one’s life. You will receive a resource packet at this meeting containing a glossary on Internet terms relevant to our discussion as well as software recommendations to help you with Internet security. Andrew Phillips has 10+ years work experience in IT and he has worked with youth for 14 years.

Multi Cultural Art Show - Wednesday 16th May 6-8pm

The Main Hallway, Gym and Multi Purpose Room will be transformed into a Grand Gallery to show case artwork by each student.

During this annual family event, you will all have fun browsing the artwork while enjoying refreshments. Then you can get involved in some of the hands on art activities.

A ‘suggested donation’ of $10.00 per family is requested when purchasing your own child’s or children’s artwork. This will help fund the Art Docent Program next year! If you would like to help with this fun event please contact Lea Bachman leaslater@yahoo.com , Lex Poile poile@msn.com , Joanna Ray josueray5@hotmail.com or Connie Ellis conellis@gmail.com

Do you know what the Vista Art Docent Program is ?

Very Intriguing Studies Through Art!

This Art Docent Program is a PTSA program relying on parent volunteers and is designed to introduce art elements, techniques and styles through the artwork and lives of Master Artists. There are at least 25 Master Artists covered, each with an Art Box which includes materials that docents follow to give lessons in class. Ask your children if they’ve had the Michelangelo lesson and drawn a fresco on the ceiling ( under their desks!) The materials are provided including paper and paints etc. All proceeds from our annual Art Show go towards funding this important program every year!

Donuts with Dads!

Don’t forget to remind your kids to come along to the Discovery Multi Purpose Room and hang out with Dad!

School Savings - Have you or your children wondered what school banking is all about?

It is a PTSA sponsered program through Washington Mutual. This program is a life lesson for kids. They can learn about saving money, how to use a bank account and learn how to read bank statements. It’s a fun way for kids to learn the value of money. Each student upon proper enrollment receives their own savings account with an initial deposit of .25 cents from WAMU. Then the child can come to banking on Wednesday mornings from 8:10am – 9:00am directly outside of the computer lab. For some students it works best for them to bank before going to class, for others they go to class and then are allowed to go to the banking station. Each teacher has their own preference.
If your child has expressed an interest in being a part of the school savings program please email Cindy Brandt at cindy@corybrandt.com with your childs name and teacher and an information packet will be sent home. Or you can email Cindy with any questions you might have. Enroll your child today and start them saving for their future.
