Does your student like to draw, take pictures, write stories or poems, play an instrument, or have other creative interests? REFLECTIONS is here again! This national PTA arts program recognizes student work in the areas of literature, visual arts, photography, musical composition, film/video, and choreography/dance. This year's theme is "I Can Make a Difference BY..." Students who enter a project will be invited to an Ice Cream Sundae Party on the stage during lunch. All entries will be displayed in the main hall of the school and will receive a ribbon, with some projects moving on to the District, State or even National level! Entries must be turned in to the school office on or before Nov.6. Packets containing rules and official entry forms are available in the Reflections hall display or in the school office. You may also download rules at wastatepta.org (just click on the "Programs" tab and then on "Reflections").
If you have any questions, please contact Barb Cluff (425) 657-0336 or bccluff@comcast.net. We hope every student will submit something!
Eager Reader log sheets and packets will be coming home with your child(ren) this Friday, October 5th. Please take a moment to review the cover letter and instructions and then have your kids start counting all those minutes. Please note: Different Grades have different scales of minutes so your children may have log sheets of different colors: pink for Pre-School, orange for 1st Grade and turquoise for 2nd-5th Grade. Don’t mix them up!
Log sheets are turned in ONLY on official turn-in dates and MUST be signed by parent or guardian. Students are so disappointed when they can’t claim their prize(s) – PLEASE remember to sign each time.
If a turn-in date is missed, don’t panic: prizes will be held over and more will continue to accumulate with minutes read, and they will all be awarded at the next turn-in date.
For 1st-5th Grade, Popcorn tokens and Surprises come home on the turn-in dates, but books are selected by the students the next day. Jan Schwinn & Susan Amos

If you enjoy preserving memories, then the Yearbook Committee wants you! We are seeking volunteers for two types of jobs:
Yearbook Committee Volunteer. We can use a few more volunteers to put together a few pages of the yearbook. We will create it online this year -- which means you can do it from the comfort of your own home! Basic computer skills helpful and full training will be provided.
Class Photographer. We'd love a volunteer from each classroom to take a few photos throughout the year for inclusion in the yearbook. Holiday parties, art projects, and field trips provide the perfect cute photo opportunity!
Interested? Call us! Thank you!
