This Month's Update

With less than three weeks until school is out (yes, really!) it’s time to start wrapping up all things for this PTSA year.  Now would be a great time to submit any outstanding receipts for reimbursement as the ‘books’ are being closed too.  Talking of books, don’t forget our Spring Social, which is a book fair and ice cream event Friday, June 5th from 4pm- 6pm.  Since it’s becoming a bit of a tradition I should mention that, of course, it’s Cold Stone ice cream!!

We’d also like to take a little more of your time to say ‘thanks’.  Thursday, of this week, (June 4th), Deb Overland & Arul Menezes are having a ‘thank you’ coffee in the school library for every one of our volunteers, so please pop by between 8.30 – 10. We’d all like to show our appreciation.  We’ve had an outstanding year with so many volunteers spending their time at Discovery to make it a very special place for all our children.  Without our Discovery community we would not be able to hold great events as was our recent Vista Art Show, where the whole exhibition was humming all evening.  We had great news at Council level too, only 31% of PTSA’s across WA ‘qualify’ for a Standards of Excellence award, we are one of those PTSA’s.  Only 23 schools in WA are at 100% PTSA membership, we are one of those also!  Without YOU – our membership, this is not possible, so a big thank you for this.  Let’s keep this going, by being a strong PTSA into this next school year.  It has been a busy year, but a fun one. We are now going to hand you over to Shelly Russell & Ken Peatross.  Both have the interests of our membership at heart and we want to wish them and their new Executive Board all the best for the upcoming year.  Now let’s see if we turned in enough Boxtops to have Mrs. Coyle dress up as a cereal box………..

Wishing you all a fantastic, safe and happy summer,

Joanna Ray & Michelle Manson
